Historical Note

When I was small my grandma fixed this for me as often as I asked.  Her Dutch oven was just a little different than the ones I use, hers went into the oven (it had been my great grandmother’s). The Dutch oven had no legs and the lid was dome shaped with no lip. I grew up thinking any black pot that was big and deep was a Dutch oven and could produce some great food.
